Every Sunday I post a list of the poems I read for my year-long poetry reading goal. I welcome anyone who wants to join me in reading more poetry this year.
The poems for this week were taken from Poems to Learn by Heart by Caroline Kennedy. These were from the sections titled The World Is So Full of a Number of Things & Extra Credit.
The Cremation of Sam McGee by Robert Service (I love poems like this that tell a story, especially ones with a bit of a twist in the end.)
The last several poems in this book are quite long, so there may only be one or two listed during these last few weeks.
The following poems are from Shel Silverstein’s Where the Sidewalk Ends.
There are only a few weeks of poems left in Caroline Kennedy’s Poems to Learn by Heart. Can you believe that we’ve gone through the whole book? We began last June.
I will be on the lookout for another book of poetry. It will need to be a compilation collection. These are good because you see work from many different sources and authors. If anyone has a suggestion, recommendation, or request in regards to book or poetry type please leave a comment.
